Criminal barristers strike over legal aid fees and working conditions

Hundreds of criminal barristers in England and Wales have begun strike motion in excess of lawful assist funding and doing work problems.

Today’s walkout is the initial of 14 days’ action prepared over the next 4 months.

But barristers on picket strains have warned the prison justice technique is ‘absolutely at breaking point’ and accused the authorities of not listening to their issues.

Kirsty Brimelow, vice chairwoman of the Legal Bar Association (CBA), which represents barristers in England and Wales, mentioned from outside Manchester Crown Court docket: ‘The Criminal Bar Affiliation has repeatedly warned the authorities that the big drop in true incomes at the criminal bar poses the most serious menace to the British legal system in a long time.

‘We have manufactured our circumstance around and more than once again to federal government but our warnings continue to tumble on deaf ears.

‘They have no resolution to conserving the criminal justice system. This is a national crisis which is of federal government creating and it have to be dealt with as a national unexpected emergency.

‘We are unable to let further assaults on our career when we know the fact of the crumbling courts and junior barristers, who walked absent extensive ahead of this action.
