Earlier Friday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray launched a scorching counter-attack on the rebels, daring them to win the elections “without using the name of Shiv Sena or the Thackerays”, even as allies Nationalist Congress Party-Congress reiterated their commitment to save the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.
Meanwhile, Eknath Shinde took a U-turn saying no national party is in contact with them, a day after claiming that a “powerful national party” was supporting his group of MLAs in the ongoing political drama in Maharashtra.
Eknath Shinde has the numbers now. All 37 rebel Shiv Sena MLAs who are camping in Guwahati have sent a letter to Maharashtra Assembly’s Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal, stating that Eknath Shinde will remain their group leader in legislature.The Shiv Sena rebel group is likely to withdraw support to the Maha Vikas Aghadi government soon. Shinde is likely to send a letter to Maharashtra governor BS Koshyari to this effect.

Plenty of GRS issued over the last few days
- Departments – mostly controlled by ruling allies NCP and Congress – have issued government resolutions for the release of funds for various development-related works worth thousands of crores in the last four days, reports PTI.
