Guwahati: Over 1 lakh government jobs are vacant in the state since 2016, Minister Ranjit Kumar Dass claimed on Tuesday, in reaction to an unstarred query elevated by Debabrata Saikia, Chief of the Opposition, in the ongoing Spending budget Session.

A overall of 1,07,149 posts of all grades in around 50 state governing administration departments are vacant since 2016. 

The record, which EastMojo has accessed, states that the Education and learning Division has the optimum vacancies with 50,465 vacant posts in all grades lying given that 2016.

The Dwelling and Political Department has 20,248 vacant posts due to the fact 2016, adopted by the Wellness and Family Welfare Division with 9,353 vacancies.  

The Environment and Forest Department have 2918 vacant posts, followed by the Irrigation Division with 2253 vacant posts. The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Section (AH&V) and Panchayat and Rural Enhancement Section (P&RD) have 2,152 and 2,137 unfilled posts, respectively.
